Community Helpers - - Week 2

It was a good week of learning about careers and how people help each other.  Monday we were Sanitation Engineers and sorted the recyclables.We had to really look at our pictures to decide where they went.

These are some fun pictures of our centers and play based learning.  Airplane pilots, vets, illustrators, artists, mail carriers, laundry workers, builders of all different kinds, child care teachers, waitresses, etc.

 

Tuesday we created a post card and mailed it home.  Hope you got it!

 Here we are sequencing the order needed to brush and floss our teeth.  Dentists are very important for the health of our teeth.

 

Community Helper/Career Dress Up Day!!!  Awesome work all!  And we were librarians sorting books on the different shelves.  Each community helper had their own shelf and 4 books to be sorted onto their shelf.

Community Helpers

What a great week talking about different community helpers and careers.  Monday we were illustrators creating a new page in our person books.  Tuesday, we were bakers.  Cutting chef hats and making cookies.

Vet was the topic of the day, we matched letters and numbers on our cats and dogs to treat our pets. We finished the week with more patterns, talking about police officers.  We used fire fighters and chefs with our police officers to create 3 part patterns

Art Fun

This week we prepared for Youth Art Month, by creating master pieces to share with all who wish to see at the Edgerton Community Hospital.  We will let you all know as soon as the work is mounted for display.

Seuss- tastical Week

Barnyard Buddies

Fun on the farm this week, discussing farm animals and their babies and friendships.  We started the week with Pigs--puppets and headbands.  Then on to rooster painting, the rooster is the dad, hen is the mom and chick is the baby.  We made a barn and animals to put in, using coloring and cutting skills.  On our make up day for one of our no school days due to the made our heart art using lots of fine motor skills to curl and fold.

Friends

This week we continued to work on patterns.  We cut and created a pattern on our own.  Tuesday, was another snow day.  We are thinking spring from now on.  We hope you enjoyed the Valentine we created for our parents on Wednesday.  Our Friendship Party was super fun.  I love how the families were creative and made Mailboxes.  Enjoy the photos. 

Porcupines, Hedgehogs and OpPoSiTeS

It has been a crazy couple weeks with our weather.  We have had snow days, cold days and icy day.  Please look at facebook and the rest of the blog post today for added days due to weather. 

We have been able to make some porcupines and hedgehogs.  We worked on our cutting and gluing with these ones decorating our room.

 We did get in some oPpOsItEs in and made our person book.  The most important opposites we worked on was Green and Red Choices.  We will refer to these through out the rest of the year in discussing being a good friend and you can use this at home as well. 

Patterns were another topic in putting the opposite picture next.  We worked very hard and were very successful in independently creating our patterns.

We managed to get some social time with some independent learning.  Oh, what fun!
