Spring...Will it ever arrive?!?

We have been thinking spring, despite the actual temperature and snow flurries this week. Monday we made a Robin as our first sign of spring. The fan-folded wings were really hard to make!  On Tuesday we made a ducky with rain boots and on Wednesday we added an umbrella that we made from a coffee filter colored with markers and then sprayed it with a water bottle to make a tie-dyed effect.Thursday we used colored strips of paper to make a 3D rainbow.

We have a lot of new things in our classroom to go along with our Southwest unit that begins next week.  Including horses that we can actually ride!!!

We have been having fun in other areas of our classroom too!
We used our imaginations and created a bus!

The Lego area is always a popular spot to play!

Budding Artists

A multi-level zoo!

We hope that you are able to enjoy the spring weather if it actually shows up this weekend!!!

Rainbows & Rhyme Time!

We started the week with a colorful St. Patrick’s Day project.  We glued rainbow color strips of paper to a shamrock and then glued green tissue paper squares to the shamrock.

Tuesday we worked really hard on our Hickory Dickory Dock Clocks! We had to cut out the clock and all the numbers. Then we matched the numbers to the clock and put in a brass fastener with the hands of the clock. Finally we added the mouse. What a lot of fine-motor practice!!!

We created an interactive Hey Diddle Diddle project with the cow jumping over the moon on Wednesday.

We ended the week with I’m a Little Teapot. We had to assemble the teapot and then decorated them with bingo daubers.

Have a great weekend!

Community Faces & Places

We had more community fun in our classroom this week! We continued to enjoy our airport area and constructing in our science and discovery area.

On Monday we made a mouth and toothbrush and talked about going to the dentist and how we need to brush our teeth morning and night.

Tuesday we made an ambulance using shapes. We practiced our cutting skills once again and we are getting very good at it!

We were bakers on Wednesday and made a giant cupcake! We got to “marble” paint it by rolling painted balls over it to make the frosting design.

Thursday we filed community helper books onto the bookshelf because we were librarians.

Be sure to check out our photo gallery page for some great pictures of us dressed for our new careers.

A Traveling We Go...

We talked about travel last week. Our room is filled with fun, new activities. We even have an airplane cockpit where we can be pilots!!!

Monday we talked about traveling to Disney World. Some of our friends have even been lucky enough to travel there. We made a Mickey or Minnie to decorate our hallway.

We spent Tuesday thinking of the tropics. We created our own island complete with palm tree and coconut. It was hard work to snip the palm leaves and tear the palm tree bark.

Wednesday we traveled “down under”  to Australia and  made decorative boomerangs. We wrapped yarn around the ends and used markers to make decorative markings.

Thursday we were off to Europe where we created our very own Eiffel Tower with toothpicks.
It was fun to imagine we were away from all this snow and cold!!!
