We Used to be Babies!

This week we celebrated how we used to be babies.

We made adorable paper babies on Monday, complete with diapers.  These babies are hanging out in our room.

On Tuesday we made a stork that required us to cut and accordion fold...both are great tasks for developing our fine motor skills.

We made “Big Kid” certificates on Wednesday.

Thursday we enjoyed an un-birthday party and made a bunny since it’s our last day of class before Easter.

Have a fabulous Spring Break!
See you on April 1st...no foolin'

Community Faces & Places

We had more community fun in our classroom this week! We continued to enjoy our airport area, doctor area, and constructing in our science and discovery area.

On Monday we made a doctors bag/medical kit. Did you child tell you what each of the items in there could be used for?

Tuesday we made police and firemen that are now decorating our classroom. We used our fine motor skills to cut out the pieces and draw on faces.

We made a letter carrier bag on Wednesday and a postcard to send home to our families. Be sure to watch your mailbox!

Thursday we cut several straight lines to create chef hats.  We also enjoyed dressing up for the career of our choice.

Things That Go!

Well this has been a very short week! We haven’t had a whole lot of time to enjoy the changes in our classroom but we are fortunate that the new things will remain out for a few weeks. Things that Go and Community Helpers are fun units because we have lots of new play centers.  We especially enjoy our airport area! We take turns being check-in agents, flight attendants and pilots.

We also have lots of little people transportation sets out to fly, drive, ride a train, etc. to imaginary destinations.

We have emergency personnel gear in our block/building area to handle any “structural emergencies”. We also have a medical center in our housekeeping area to care for the newborn babies.

There is now pvc piping in our science area, which we use to build all sorts of sculptures. There is also a fun foam and golf tee building set!

Projects this week included water color painting a boat (speed boat, row boat, pirate ship, sailboat, cruise ship)  of our choice and coloring an “in the air vehicle” (airplane, jet, blimp, hot air balloon, helicopter) of  choice and a land vehicle (car, truck, bus, bike, van, motorcycle) We then had to match the vehicle to the poster with the correct location (sky, sea, road). These posters are on display in our hallway.

Don't forget that the Bear Hunt Trip is
Tomorrow (3/7) if you signed up.

Career Dress Up Day is on
Thursday, March 14th!

Down on the 4K Farm

This week we learned about farm animals. On Monday we made a barn and silo. We had to cut the barn and silo out and then we glued on rectangles and squares to make the door, windows and roof.

We practiced cutting on a curved line on Tuesday when we cut out three different sized circles to make pigs to decorate our hallway. We talked about how the circles are big, bigger, biggest, or small, smaller, smallest.
Can you pick out which one knows he's going to be bacon? Haha!

Wednesday we had a snow day. We hope you enjoyed the day off! Remember to watch local news stations for any delay/closing information. Thursday we had another day off due to the district early release.

We made a page for our Person Book on Friday and we made the rooster project that we missed on Wednesday.

We also went to different centers to demonstrate skills for our progress reports, which will be coming home in a couple weeks. It’s so amazing to see the increase in knowledge/skills! We are so very proud of all our friends!!!!

Conferences have been scheduled for the people who returned their blue selection sheets. You received a neon orange note in your child's folder this week listing your date/time. Also, we have added a page to this blog listing all the conference times in case you forget. You can get there from the menu bar above by clicking on Spring Conference Schedule.
