Oh Baby!

This week we celebrated how we used to be babies. We made quilts on Monday that are decorating our hallway.

On Tuesday we made a stacking toy that required us to think about sizing and colors. These toys are decorating our classroom.

We made adorable babies on Wednesday.

Thursday we enjoyed baby powder painting.

Have a wonderful spring break!
We will see you on Monday, April 9th :}

Cowboy Round Up

Our Southwest unit has been a lot of fun!  We enjoyed galloping, mosying, trotting, yee hawing, giddyuping and talking about snakes, javelinas, coyotes, and cacti.

We made adorable horses on Monday that are now on display in our classroom. Feel free to come check them out!

Tuesday was a test of our small motor skills...we had to cut, lace, crumple AND stuff!

Wednesday was a busy day since we had two projects to complete. First we colored our very own cowboy hats. Then we stamp-painted vests.

Thursday we used dried pasta and legumes to decorate an armadillo.

Our cowboy/cowgirl dress-up day was a blast!

Nursery Rhymes in the Southwest

We spent a lot of time working on our nursery rhyme books this week. The book is even interactive! Be sure to have your child “read” it to you. We especially liked jumping over the candlestick, like Jack Be Nimble...and crawling over it, and walking around it, etc. We had some creative ways of traveling over/around the candlestick.

Our room is now set up for the Southwest Unit coming next week. We are really enjoying riding S’mores and Butterscotch...our horses. We have hats, bandanas, chaps, boots, etc. to play the western part.

Welcome to the Southwest!
Howdy Pardners!
Cowboy dress up day is on Thursday!!!!

We also enjoyed the gorgeous weather this week! It was so great to spend less time bundling up and more time enjoying the outdoors. Keep in mind that Wisconsin weather can change very quickly so have all the necessary gear on hand and be sure to send it to school should winter weather return.

If you haven't sent in a baby picture of your child, we need one by Thursday, March 22!

Up, Up and Away!

What a fun week of pretending to travel to different places!  On Monday, we talked about Disney.  We rounded squares to make circles for  Mickey Mouse headbands.

On Tuesday, we strung flowers and straws on strings to create patterns.  We made beautiful Lei’s for the tropics.

All our mates tried out some real rain sticks and then they created their own rain sticks on Wednesday. We also talked about the many different animals that live in Australia.

Thursday we made an Eiffel Tower puzzle with toothpicks and glue.

It was an exciting week of travel all around the world! Don’t forget to check out your child’s passport!

We still need many baby pictures! If you haven't brought in a photo of your child as a baby for our unit at the end of the month, please do so next week. We will scan it in and return the original to you. We are going to use them for a matching game so please be sure your child's face is visible. Thanks!

It's All About Community

We had so much fun in our classroom this week! This is one of our favorite units because we have lots of new play centers.

We especially enjoyed our airport area! We took turns being check-in agents, flight attendants and pilots.

We also had a beauty salon set up where we could take turns getting made up and giving makeovers.

Next, we had our own restaurant and bakery! There were menus and order pads, cash registers and more.

We had pvc piping in our science area, which we used to build all sorts of sculptures. There was also a fun foam and golf tee building set!

We also enjoyed an entire little people construction site, and a school area too.

On Wednesday we made shaped cookies and wore our baker's hats. Aren't we cute?!

On Friday, we dressed up for career day. We had fun talking about what we’d like to be and where we would like to work. There are individual photos of us in our career outfits on the photo gallery page.
