Friends Week

We drew a portrait of ourselves and made a Who Am I? class book. You can read this book at our open house next Thursday, October 3rd. Tuesday we decorated our handprints using bingo daubers. The daubers are always a favorite in our classroom and offer a fun, different way to paint.

Wednesday we made a friendship chain. It took lots of small motor skills to cut on the lines to make strips, decorate the strips, and then glue them into circles!

Thursday we made a picture of Mat Man.

We learned a song that helps us create Mat Man and remember all the parts we need to draw a person. Ask your child if he/she will sing you the song.

If your child has had a fever, vomited or had diarrhea the night before or the morning before class, please, please, please do NOT send them to school. They are still carrying the infection even if they are “feeling better”.

Your child must be symptom free (no fever, no vomiting, no diarrhea), WITHOUT medication for 24 hours before they can return to school.

If your child is sent home sick during class, he/she may not return to school the following day even if feeling better, as this would not meet the 24 hour requirement.

While it might be an inconvenience for you, we cannot stress enough how critical it is for you to adhere to this school district policy. The health of all thirty-five 4K kids, plus teachers, plus the pre-schoolers & daycare children that also attend here, is jeopardized when you send your child to school while they are still carrying infection.

Please also encourage your child to use proper hand washing techniques, which means using both soap & warm water and washing for the length of time it takes to sing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star.

Don't Forget our Open House is Next Thursday, October 3rd from 5:30-6:30pm. See you then!

A Super Week!

We worked very hard this week on our “Feelings” book. Each day we decorated a person in our book with a different emotion and we used different mediums each day as well. Monday was crayons, Tuesday we used watercolor paints, Wednesday we tried colored pencils, markers on Thursday, and on Friday we got to choose whichever medium we wanted.

Our Super Hero Dress Up Day was...Super! You can see pictures on our photo gallery page. This was the first time we had this special day, but it may become an annual occasion. We talked about how each one of us are super, that we all have different talents, and together we make up a super class!

We are having an open house on Thursday, October 3rd from 5:30-6:30pm. This is an opportunity for parents & other family members to see our classroom. The kids will be working on a lot of projects to be displayed around the room for that evening.

We will also be having sign-ups for our Super Student Week and conferences.

We will be having picture day on Thursday, October 10th. These will be taken outside, therefore, we also have a rain date of Thursday, October 17th arranged, if necessary, due to bad weather. You will then receive proofs of your child’s photos and will be able to select the exact number of sizes/poses you want. We will also be taking a group photo that day.

Full Speed Ahead!

Holy cow! Another week has passed already!! We have already fallen into our routine and are doing great. We have made lots of new friends and aren't feeling so shy any more. Here's a look at some of the things we've been doing with our new friends.

On Monday, we colored a Chester the Raccoon after hearing another Kissing Hand story.

Tuesday we glued the handprint tree trunk of our family tree. We added leaves for our family members to the tree on Wednesday.

Thursday we put our family photo on our family tree. These are now decorating our classroom.  Your original photos are in your child’s red folder this week.

Five Days of Class Next Week!!

We have class Monday through Friday next week.  If for some reason your child is not going to come to class on Friday, (daycare/transportation issues) please call us at 884-6162 and call the bus company if your child rides the bus-like you would for any other absence.

Ages & Stages Questionnaire
Last week we sent home an “Ages & Stages” Questionnaire. If you haven’t already done so, please fill this out & return it to us ASAP. Thank you!

 Super Hero Dress Up Day
Friday, September 20th wear a costume you already have or make one from household items. A pillowcase or towel  with a clothes pin could be a cape.  You could print an emblem to tape to your child’s shirt or make something from felt. Please don’t go buy anything for this  fun day!

One Week Down!

Our week has been so much fun! We are beginning to learn the routine of a school day. A lot of skills are being developed already including direction following, turn taking, staying in line, sharing, manners, listening, sitting still and much more. These are huge accomplishments in a room full of energetic 4-year-olds. We are so proud of all the kids!!!

This week we learned all about Chester Raccoon and the Kissing Hand. We learned that even though we are away from our mommies and daddies, they still love us very much!

Please note that the kids will start pouring their own drinks very soon...which means we are in for a lot of spills :) Be sure your child has extra clothing in his/her backpack.

We didn't have much time to take photos during this busy week, but here are a few to show you what we have been doing.

Also, we have first day of school pictures posted on our
Photo Gallery Page.

Thank you so much for all the supplies that were brought so far! If you haven’t had a chance to drop off your supplies yet, feel free to bring them in ASAP.

Please bring in a photo of your family for us to use on a project later this week during our Family unit.  You will get it back. Or e-mail one to us at 4k@creativeartsclass.net. We need this by Sept. 12th.

Back to School Time

The summer is coming to an end and it's time to start thinking about the new school year already!

Don't forget!!
We are having a Parent Orientation Meeting here at Creative Arts Class
on Thursday, August 22nd at 5:30pm.

This is your chance to turn in paperwork, school supplies and meet the teachers.  You will learn about the routine, curriculum, policies and have the opportunity to ask questions.  Children need not be present and there will not be childcare available. This is important! If for any reason you are unable to make it, please call and schedule an appointment, 884-6162.

Graduation and Year End Fun

Wow! Can you believe the year has already come to an end? We think it went waaaay too fast! Here are a few photos from graduation. You can watch the ceremony (what you can see in the dark) on the DVD that your child brought home today. What are the odds of having our Holiday Sing rescheduled due to snow and a power outage for our Graduation Ceremony?!?! Both have been firsts for us (and hopefully "lasts" too!)

Here's what the stage looked like with the lights on...too bad you didn't get to see it this way :(

Below is a look at the fun we had on our last day. Since it was our ocean unit, we played" junk in the treasure chest"," octopus cup tumble", and "puffer fish relay".

Our Busy Week

We talked about camping this week. Monday we made a tent and campfire using our fine motor skills to cut, fold, and crumple.

On Tuesday we took a field trip to the big school! We were able to sit in on a 5K class and tour the gym, music room, art room, lunch area, office and more. We even got to play on the playground! It was VERY exciting!!!

On Wednesday, we added trees and a sleeping bag to our camp out pictures.  We even drew ourselves in the sleeping bag! These camping scenes are on display in our classroom and hallway.

We made self-portraits that will be on display at the graduation ceremony on Thursday. Be sure to take this portrait home with you after the ceremony.

Have a great holiday weekend...we will see you on Tuesday!

Graduation is next Thursday!
May 30th at 6:00pm

Please do not arrive earlier than 5:50pm...the kids are too excited to wait patiently!
