Spring

What a wonderful week.  It could have been even better with more spring like weather.  But we live in Wisconsin, so we never know what we are going to get.
Monday we painted rainbows with cotton balls.  We hopped our bunny tails over our papers in all the beautiful colors.

Tuesday we made window cling kites to decorate our doors.

Wednesday we read about, "Baby Duck in the Rain".  We learned even some ducks do not like getting wet and muddy.
Thursday we watercolored eggs.  Look how colorful!!

Lets hope for a beautiful spring break and warm weather in April.

Art Show

Thank you artists, Edgerton Community Hospital and Families for celebrating National Art Month.  It was a beautiful art show enjoyed by all.

Community Helpers Week 2 & Career Day

Wonderful second week of Community Helpers.  We talked about the Mail Carrier, be watching your mail for a great surprise.  The Dentist and healthy brushing habits on Tuesday.  Look for our Lego pictures for our construction day.   Thursday, was fun, dressing up as what we want to be when we grow up.  Check out our pictures.

Lego Construction Day

We had a great day of construction.  We built some of the creations from patterns and others from our imaginations.

Community Helpers Week 1

This was a fun week learning about community helpers that are in our community to help us out.  We talked about numerous jobs in the community, but we focused our fine motor projects on Bakers-making cookies, Doctors-making a doctor kit.  Police Officers-patterning with other community helpers, nurse/doctor, baker, and fire fighters.  The exciting part is our classroom transformation.  Here are some pictures of the kiddos exploring and learning about occupations.  Don't forget Thursday, March 15th,  is Career Dress Up Day.
Thank you everyone who came out on Friday.  This was another great way to Celebrate Youth Art Month.   The Family Art Day was a huge success.  It is always wonderful to see our kiddos and their families.  Here are some of the picture of our Artist.

Snow much Fun

Not sure if we will have anymore snow this year but we did have some fun with this latest snow fall.  It was the perfect consistency for building snowmen.  We definitely enjoyed the warm winter day outside.

Visual Arts

March is Youth Art Month.  We will be having several activities to celebrate our young artists.  We kicked it off with a week devoted to art.

It was a wonderful week of exploring art mediums.  On Monday, we watercolored on special watercolor paper.  It is wonderful how the colors pop off the paper.
On Tuesday, we used paper shapes and paper strips to create a geometric, primary colored collage.  The strips of paper were great to make things pop off the paper and transform our 2 dimensional art to 3 dimensional.
Wednesday was tissue paper art day.  Wow, they made gorgeous art work.
Thursday we created wire sculptures with bead work.

All these works will be beautifully displayed at the Edgerton Community Hospital starting Friday, March 9th, in the afternoon.  On Thursday, March 15th Ms. Kim and I will be at the Hospital from 5-6:30 PM.

Barnyard Buddies

This week "on the farm", was an Adventure.  We learned about Charlie Rooster, Fat Percy Pig and Johnny Mouse and their adventures.  We talked about how friends enjoy each others company and that we are still friends when we chose different activities.

Our farm friends also taught us about using our imaginations to play.  This is an important skill for children of all ages.  Remember to also teach the truth and a story.  This can be a hard line to tote at times...

During class we are working on our letter names and their sounds.  Please feel free to play and talk about letters during your daily routines.  On the last half page news letter I also put some great information on the back side.  It had hand grip and ways to increase hand strength.
