We Used to Be Babies & Spring Break

This week we celebrated how we used to be babies. We made adorable babies to decorate our room on Monday.

On Tuesday, we made storks that had some tricky accordian folding to it and watched a snippet of Dumbo that showed storks delivering the animal babies.

We made birthday cakes on Wednesday using different sized layers-small, smaller, smallest. We decorated them with bingo daubers to make the frosting...the class always love when we get the daubers out! We also sang Happy Birthday and had mini muffins with pretzel candles in them for little birthday cakes.

Thursday we talked about how much we have grown since we were babies and made "Big Kid Certificates".

In your child's red folder this week is information about the Edgerton Children's Fair on April 16th and also information on Summer School Classes & Care here at Creative Arts Class, as well as Fall Care Request Forms.

If you are having a "stay-cation", during Spring Break, here are some low or no cost ideas for fun, familiy-friendly entertainment:
We hope you have a wonderful Spring Break! We will see you on April 11th!!

Wrapping Up the Southwest with a Cowboy Day

Yee haw!!! It's been another spectacular week here on the ranch. We finished up our Southwest unit this week by lacing cowboy boots, making necktie snakes & painting a cactus with a prickly texture.

Howdy Pardners!

This week we began our Southwest unit and it is a lot of fun!  We are galloping, mosying, trotting, yee hawing, giddyuping and talking about snakes, javelinas, coyotes, and cacti.

Our horseshoe stamped bandanas hanging outside to dry.
Remember our Cowboy Dress Up will be on Thursday,  March 24th, your child can wear the hat, bandana & vest he/she made in class this week or anything else cowboy related he/she has at home. Sorry no revolvers...there will be no showdowns at school.

We love the Southwestern style dramatic play area!

Community Faces
& Places

We had so much fun in our classroom this week! This is one of our favorite units because we have lots of new play centers.  We especially enjoyed our airport area! We took turns being check-in agents, flight attendants and pilots.

We also had a beauty salon set up where we could take turns getting made up and giving makeovers.

Next, we had our own grocery store! There were lots of real grocery containers along with shopping carts, baskets and cash registers.

We had our own recycling center where we sorted recyclables into bins of paper, plastic, and metal.
We also enjoyed an entire little people construction site, a school area, and a pediatrician’s office too.

On Thursday, we dressed up for career day. We had fun talking about what we’d like to be and where we would like to work.

We are doing our Hop-a-thon next Thursday, March 4th. A fundraising packet came home in your child's folder this week. Participation in the fundraising portion is optional. all the children will have a turn to hop since it is so much fun! We hope to have a video online next week so you can see our hopping abilities!!!

Be sure to send in a baby picture before March 24th for our "I Used to be a Baby Unit".
