More
Farm Animal Fun

We wrapped up our Farm Animal Books this week. We learned about the different names for animals in each animal family (i.e.-stallion, mare, foal). We also used several differnet skills and mediums to create these literary works. We cut, we glued, we daubered, we colored, we painted, we wrote, we stretched, we worked very, very hard!! Unfortunately, you will have to wait until conferences to see the book but you can have a sneak peak in the video above.

Speaking of conferences...you received a conference sign-up sheet in the red folder this week. Please return it ASAP, as conference times will be filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.  If you can't find your sign-up sheet, you can download a new one here.

We also sent home new bulletin board decorations. You child received either a lion or a lamb for the March bulletin board. Please help him/her decorate it with whatever you like, cut it out, write his/name on it and return it next week. Thank you!

Finally,  please send a photo of your child as a baby before March 24th. You WILL be receiving it back...just be sure to have their name on it. Any photo/snapshot of your child will do. We plan to make a poster with all the kids' pictures on it and have the kids guess which baby is which classmate.

Valentine's, Friendship
& Farm Animals

We had so much fun exchanging valentines at our friendship party on Monday. Thank you to everyone who brought in extra treats and goody bags. The kids LOVED them & the teachers did too.

On Tuesday, we painted hearts at the easels and these works of art are now decorating our classroom.

The rest of the week we worked on our animal family barn book. It is going to take us several more days to finish up. We are so excited to share them with you!

Please remember to send boots & shoes to school everyday...our playground is very muddy. Thank you.

Potluck
Fun

Click photo to enlarge.

Thank you to all the families that joined us for the Valentine's Family Potluck. We had a great time showing you some of our favorite songs. There was so much yummy food to enjoy too. Thank you for taking the time out of your afternoon to get to know other 4K families and friends!!!

For those that just couldn't arrange your schedules for a weekday outing, we are very sorry you couldn't attend and understand that it is hard to accomodate weekday activities. Please know that when we schedule family activities for our school (versus as a district) we try to make them during evenings so that scheduling may be easier for families.

Hearts, Love,
& Friendship

This week we spent lots of time talking about love and friendship. We learned that we are all different in the way we look and the things we are good at and this is what makes us special! When we work together as friends, we are able to get lots of things done because we each have different skills. Our families help each other and work together like this too.

On Monday we melted crayons in hearts with the teachers’ help. It was hard work to peel the crayons & “shave” them. Tuesday we made special valentine gifts for parents—these are in your child's red folder. We made sure that we filled these valentines with extra love! We made our valentine mailbags and table runners for our party on Wednesday and on Thursday we wrapped things up by layering hearts into centerpieces.

Don't forget our Valentine's/Friendship Party is on Monday, February 14th. Please be sure your child brings his/her valentines for the party on Monday!!!
Please have your child write ONLY his/her name on each valentine.
We have 15 friends in the morning class and 18 friends in the afternoon class.

Winter Fun, Arctic Animals, Opposites & Valentines too!

The past few weeks we have been learning about different winter activities and animals that live in the Arctic. Our classroom is decorated with us wearing snowsuits like the one in The Snowy Day. We also have beautiful handprint snowflakes on display. We talked about how each snowflake is different, just like our handprints.

Artic animals we focused on included: penguins, polar bears, walruses & moose. We had so much fun using different mediums to make these critters! We also got to enjoy a special pizza snack for our Friday of school...it made the day even more special.

This week were learned about opposites. We started with a story about A Porcupine Named Fluffy.  We also made another page for our Person Book, which will be coming home at the end of the school year. We make a new page each month and it is just incredible to see the advancements each child has made from the beginning of the school year to the end!

We all enjoyed our first snow day of the year on Wednesday and wrapped up opposite week with a day/night collage and a pajama day. If you forgot about the PJ day after being off due to the snow, don't worry! We will have many more dress-up days before the year is over.

Our Valentine's Friendship Party will be on Monday, February 14th, so please have your child bring in his/her valentines next week to be sure we have them. We have 15 friends in the morning class and 18 in the afternoon. Please have your child write only his/her own name on each valentine to make the process of passing them out easy on us all.

Finally, if you signed up for the Family Potluck, don't forget it is next Friday, February 11th from noon-2pm at Tri-County Community Center.
