Winter Fun, Arctic Animals, Opposites & Valentines too!

The past few weeks we have been learning about different winter activities and animals that live in the Arctic. Our classroom is decorated with us wearing snowsuits like the one in The Snowy Day. We also have beautiful handprint snowflakes on display. We talked about how each snowflake is different, just like our handprints.

Artic animals we focused on included: penguins, polar bears, walruses & moose. We had so much fun using different mediums to make these critters! We also got to enjoy a special pizza snack for our Friday of school...it made the day even more special.

This week were learned about opposites. We started with a story about A Porcupine Named Fluffy.  We also made another page for our Person Book, which will be coming home at the end of the school year. We make a new page each month and it is just incredible to see the advancements each child has made from the beginning of the school year to the end!

We all enjoyed our first snow day of the year on Wednesday and wrapped up opposite week with a day/night collage and a pajama day. If you forgot about the PJ day after being off due to the snow, don't worry! We will have many more dress-up days before the year is over.

Our Valentine's Friendship Party will be on Monday, February 14th, so please have your child bring in his/her valentines next week to be sure we have them. We have 15 friends in the morning class and 18 in the afternoon. Please have your child write only his/her own name on each valentine to make the process of passing them out easy on us all.

Finally, if you signed up for the Family Potluck, don't forget it is next Friday, February 11th from noon-2pm at Tri-County Community Center.
